My Machina at the moment consists of;

  • Ryzen 5 5600x
  • 32 GB 3000MHz RAM
  • 2x 1 TB M.2 NVME SSD's
  • RX 6700 non-XT 10GB

I'll soon be upgrading my CPU to a Ryzen 7 5800x3d. As it is not as RAM senstitive as other Ryzen I don't need to upgrade anything else, how awesome is that???

When Christmas rolls around I'll treat myself to a RX 7800XT. What a great year for affordable PC Parts! 🙂

Desktop PC mostly from circa 2014:

  • Core i5-4690K
  • ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer MB
  • 16gb G.Skill Ripjaws X Series DDR3-1600
  • Samsung 860 EVO 1TB
  • Asus Radeon RX 580 4 GB Dual
  • Asus 27" 2k 144hz monitor

Been looking to build a new one since ~late 2019 but refuse to pay the exorbitant prices of GPUs during/after COVID and the new cards released in early (?) 2020...so still using this until I figure out what to do...

Try having a look at the newer 7000 Series Radeon cards. They're mostly at MSRP, maybe 50€ extra and they serve very good performance, especially coming from a 580!

CPU-wise I'd probably wait for the next Gen of Ryzen and see how it that one goes. AM5 Motherboards are expensive but dependent on IPC uplift might be worth it next season!

Sounds like a very special rig but aren't the 80GB of mixed ram slower compared to a 64GB kit running in dual/quad-channel?

Also I love the dedication of keeping an old DELL part around!

I LOVE PUSSY!

You are probably right! So far I have not exceeded the 64GB I think, so I might try to pull out the 16GB and store them incase I need them anyway.
